As a Newly Qualified Solicitor in the Family Law department at Ackroyd Legal, you will embark on a rewarding legal career focusing on family-related legal matters. Under the guidance of experienced family law solicitors, you will handle a variety of cases, provide legal advice to clients, and assist in resolving family law disputes.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management:
- Assist in managing a diverse caseload of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, adoption, and domestic violence cases.
- Conduct client interviews, gather necessary information, and assess the legal aspects of each case.
Legal Research and Analysis:
- Conduct legal research to support case arguments, ensuring that all legal strategies are up-to-date and in compliance with current laws and regulations.
- Analyse complex legal issues and provide clients with informed recommendations and advice.
Document Preparation:
- Draft legal documents, including petitions, motions, pleadings, and agreements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal requirements.
- Maintain organized and complete case files, including all relevant documentation.
Client Representation:
- Represent clients in court proceedings, mediation sessions, and negotiations.
- Advocate on behalf of clients, presenting cases effectively, making legal arguments, and seeking resolutions that align with clients’ interests.
Client Communication:
- Maintain regular communication with clients, keeping them informed of case developments and legal proceedings.
- Address client inquiries and concerns professionally and promptly.
Alternative Dispute Resolution:
- Assist in negotiations and settlements, working with opposing parties and mediators to reach mutually acceptable resolutions.
Court Appearances:
- Attend court hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings as required.
- Prepare clients for court appearances and provide representation in family court.
Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:
- Ensure all family law activities adhere to legal requirements, ethical standards, and court rules.
- Stay updated on changes in family law and relevant regulations.
Qualifications:
a) Newly qualified solicitor with a law degree (LLB) and successful completion of the Legal Practice Course (LPC).
b) Admission to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) or equivalent regulatory body.
c) Strong interest in family law and family-related legal matters.
d) Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
e) Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
f) Compassionate and empathetic approach when working with clients.
g) Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
h) Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
i) Proficiency in legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
