Newly Qualified Solicitor – Litigation

As a Newly Qualified Solicitor in the Litigation department at Ackroyd Legal, you will embark on a promising legal career with opportunities to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of civil and commercial litigation. Under the guidance of experienced solicitors, you will handle a range of cases, represent clients, and develop your legal skills within a supportive and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Case Management:

  1. Assist in managing a diverse caseload of litigation matters, including civil and commercial disputes.
  2. Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and legal documents, and provide case analysis.

Client Representation:

  1. Represent clients in court proceedings, hearings, and negotiations.
  2. Attend client meetings, gather necessary information, and provide legal advice and guidance.
  3. Collaborate with senior solicitors to develop case strategies and provide effective representation.

Legal Research and Analysis:

  1. Conduct legal research to support case arguments and legal strategies.
  2. Stay informed about changes in relevant laws and regulations.
  3. Analyse complex legal issues and provide recommendations to clients.

Document Management:

  1. Manage and organize case files, ensuring all relevant documents are maintained accurately.
  2. Prepare and file legal documents with the court and opposing parties.
  3. Maintain a thorough record of case developments and correspondence.

Client Communication:

  1. Maintain regular communication with clients, keeping them informed of case progress and developments.
  2. Address client inquiries and concerns professionally and promptly.

Settlement Negotiations:

  1. Assist in negotiating settlements and alternative dispute resolutions when appropriate.
  2. Collaborate with opposing parties and mediators to reach mutually acceptable resolutions.

Court Appearances:

  1. Attend court hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings as required.
  2. Present cases effectively, make legal arguments and advocate on behalf of clients.

Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:

  1. Ensure that all litigation activities comply with legal requirements and ethical standards.
  2. Adhere to court rules and procedures.

Qualifications:

a) Newly qualified solicitor with a law degree (LLB) and successful completion of the Legal Practice Course (LPC) or Solicitor Qualifying Exam (SQE).

b) Admission to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) or equivalent regulatory body.

c) Strong interest in litigation and dispute resolution.

d) Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

e) Effective communication and negotiation abilities.

f) Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

g) Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

h) Proficiency in legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
